Principle Function
The Worship Pastor creates an environment where people are led to offer their praise to God in a manner that is Christ-focused, culturally sensitive and musically effective. These should flow through the Worship Pastor's attention to personal spiritual disciplines as well as musical expertise. The ministry is to be carried out in a team environment in connection and cooperation with all other key ministry teams at FBC.
Qualifications
Must meet the qualifications for pastor position as stated in FBC constitution.
Must have completed formal education from an accredited school in areas related to principle function.
Have served as worship leader or worship team leader at local church – 5yrs experience preferred but not required.
Ability and willingness to work in a team environment – both creating teams within ministry and being part of larger ministry leader team.
Duties & Responsibilities
The Worship Pastor is the primary planner of weekend services.
o Create advance schedule of musicians, technicians and music.
o Work with Lead Pastor on any special songs appropriate for sermon or other themes.
o Make use of wide range of music and worship elements.
The Worship Pastor is the primary developer of musicians.
o Lead weekly rehearsals for worship bands and/or other groups.
o Create opportunities for wide range of participation within the ministry including, but not limited to: Choirs and ensembles (vocal and instrumental).
The Worship Pastor is responsible for all audio/visual elements working and in proper order.
o Ensure song slides are accurate and easy to read.
o Create appropriate atmosphere with sound and lighting.
The Worship Pastor is the primary developer of special groups and worship events.
o Should have a goal of allowing as many people to participate as possible while maintaining high musical standards.
o Responsible for putting together special worship services; retreats, conferences, holidays, etc.
Working Relationships
The Worship Pastor will be required to attend monthly elder meetings and offer monthly reports.
The Worship Pastor reports directly to the Pastor of Ministry Development and works closely with the Lead Pastor in developing weekend and special services.
The Worship Pastor will work closely as a team member of the church staff and be expected to attend regular meetings as well as planned retreats, etc.
